CMR is an abbreviation of “Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road” (English) and “Convention relative au contrat de transport international de merchandises par route” (French). The CMR convention regulates goods transport by road and is used as a starting point for entering into agreements regarding international transport. In these contexts, the carrier (usually) issues this agreement in the form of a CMR waybill. A CMR waybill must contain the following:
Date and place where the document was created.
Transport company name and address
Recipient’s name and address
Description of the transported goods and how they are packaged.
The weight of the goods
Any charges for the goods
Information about the shipment containing dangerous goods
